About us
Bauhütte 4.0 e.V. is a nonprofit association founded in 2023 by Prof. Raoul Bunschoten, Emeritus at the Technical University of Berlin, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Holger Kohl, Director of Fraunhofer IPK, after a study (published by Fraunhofer IPK) showed that greater collaboration and standardization among stakeholders are needed to advance timber construction, particularly in the Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan region. The association has a total of 12 founding members and has since expanded to include additional members. The Bauhütte 4.0 charter can be found here.

The objectives of Bauhütte 4.0, as defined in its charter, are:

The promotion of science and research,

The promotion of environmental protection, including climate protection.
Specifically, these objectives are implemented through the following activities:

Conducting studies and developing quality requirements and criteria for urban construction using renewable and sustainable raw materials.

Exchange and networking between industry and academia

Collaboration with universities and other scientific institutions, as well as the transfer of knowledge into teaching

Conducting events, organizing lectures, conferences and panel discussions

Providing information through the publication of research findings from the international scientific community on urban construction using renewable and sustainable raw materials.

General public relations work.
